In partnership with the city of Tongeren and Flemish public transport company De Lijn we took on the redevelopment of a former bus depot next to Tongeren’s Elfde Novemberwal into a pleasant urban park including housing opportunities and a care hotel.
The latter combines care rooms, care apartments, service flats and service apartments. A Grand Café makes for a central resting place for residents, from where they can look out over a peaceful courtyard. Other than its caring purpose, the new city park also includes 3 housing residences, which together make up for 81 accommodation units. At the base of the apartment building neighbouring the Elfde Novemberwal, room was created for a number of commercial spaces. Architects Jaspers-Eyers & Partners made sure to leave ample free space in their positioning of the four buildings to allow for passageways. This way the green city park establishes a physical connection between the historical centre, and New Tongeren.
