Democo Group ranked among the 100 best companies to work for in Europe

Democo Group Awarded a Spot on the Coveted "Top 100" List by Fortune and Great Place To Work

Democo Group, known for projects such as Silt in Middelkerke (casino), the Corda campuses in Hasselt, and the new Provincial Houses in Antwerp and East Flanders, has just been named one of the "100 Best Companies to Work For in Europe 2024." This prestigious list is compiled by the well-known business magazine Fortune and Great Place To Work, an authority on workplace culture. “It’s an honor to be on this list, but as a family business, we are especially pleased that our employees themselves report coming to work with a smile every day,” says Thibaud Demot, CEO of Democo Group.

Today, Democo Group learned that it holds the 81st position in the coveted ranking by Fortune Europe and Great Place To Work. The list includes a total of 25 multinationals and 75 large companies. To be eligible, a company must have at least 500 employees and be evaluated by Great Place To Work in at least one European country, either in 2023 or early 2024. Specifically, employees are surveyed confidentially and anonymously, and the results are compared with official HR data. Only companies that consistently score high on 60 statements in a so-called “Trust Index” survey – essentially a trust survey – can secure a place in this ranking. In total, more than 1.3 million employees across Europe were surveyed.

“We are therefore extremely honored to be included as a family business in the ‘100 Best Companies to Work For in Europe 2024’. But above all, we are grateful to our employees. They, along with management and the leadership team, ensure that Democo Group is a warm place where one can enjoy working and where there is room for learning and growth. Our people are the future of our company.” - Thibaud Demot, CEO of Democo Group

A High Level of Trust

A spot on the Top 100 list indicates, according to the organizers, that there is a high level of trust within an organization. The nominated companies perform significantly better than the typical workplace in Europe, as revealed by market research conducted by Great Place To Work.

For instance, a remarkable 78% of employees at the 100 best companies report that promotions are fair. About 70% say they receive a fair share of the company's profits. This is significantly higher compared to a typical workplace, where only 37% say promotions are fair and 36% feel they receive a fair share of the profits.

"Despite the economic challenges they face, these companies have found ways to further support their people in their jobs. Moreover, they have developed a foundation of trust that is crucial for the success of the company in the years to come. We congratulate them for this." - Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place To Work

“We are excited to unveil our first list of the 100 best companies to work for in Europe. We did this in collaboration with Great Place to Work, experts in evaluating company cultures with decades of experience. These companies have created environments where people thrive and feel engaged. This is also confirmed by honest and detailed feedback from the employees themselves. Congratulations to all the companies that have earned this great recognition.” - Grethe Schepers, Lists Director Europe at Fortune
