Our Environmental, Social and Governance policies

At Democo Group, we recognize the importance of engaging with policymakers and stakeholders to help shape public policy and contribute to the development of a sustainable and equitable society. We also recognize that the way in which we engage with policymakers can have a significant impact on society's progress and fairness. Therefore, we have adopted this lobbying and advocacy policy to guide our interactions with policymakers and stakeholders.

Policy Statement

Democo Group will not seek to influence public policy or public opinion in ways that could undermine society's progress or fairness. We will not support any specific positions or policies that contradict our commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. This policy applies across all regions and to all departments and individuals in the company who have the opportunity to influence people directly or make cash disbursements and non-cash contributions to third parties. This includes, but is not limited to, engaging with policymakers at all levels of government, participating in industry associations, and supporting or funding third-party organizations that engage in such lobbying or advocacy activities.

Responsibilities

All employees and contractors of Democo Group who engage in lobbying or advocacy activities on behalf of the company must comply with this policy. The responsibility for ensuring compliance with this policy rests with the senior management team, who will ensure that all employees and contractors are aware of this policy and its requirements.

Disclosure requirements

For each contribution made to third-party influencers, the following must be disclosed:

  • Recipient name(s)
  • Amount of contribution
  • Date of contribution
  • A summary of any concerns the company raised with the recipient

Control Processes

Democo Group has implemented control processes for contributions to ensure compliance with their lobbying and advocacy policy. These controls include ensuring that the company itself does not engage in lobbying or advocacy that conflicts with their policy, conducting due diligence before making contributions to third-party influencers, regularly reviewing their own lobbying and advocacy activities as well as those supported by the company, and providing clear guidance on what actions to take when a recipient's influencing activity conflicts with their policy.

Any employee or contractor who violates this policy or the control processes for contributions may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or contract. The company may also take legal action against any individual or organization that acts in violation of this policy.
