Project be-MINE wins prestigious real estate prize

In Cannes, the MIPIM awards were presented at the international MIPIM Real Estate Fair. They are the Oscars of the real estate world. Together with its partners, DMI Real Estate took home an award for its project, be-MINE.

The project be-MINE was picked from 215 submissions in the category “Best Urban Regeneration Project”. This category recognises completed projects or projects in progress that greatly influence the development of a city and lead to social and economic progress. In selecting be-Mine for this honour, the jury took into account the project’s effect on its surrounding environment, its sustainability and accessibility, its integration in the local community and the repurposing of architectural heritage.

Biggest industrial heritage

be-MINE is the repurposing of the former mining sites in Beringen. With its 100.000 m2 of existing building heritage, the mining site is the biggest industrial heritage site of Flanders. DMI Real Estate, LRM and Vanroey Real Estate are giving the site a new, touristic and recreational purpose. At the site, living and leisure are intertwined and balanced. The project is projected to create 500 jobs, of which 300 have already been realised.
be-MINE was selected from a list including the prestigious projects Battersea Power station (London), MediaCityUK (Salford), and Nowadays (Amsterdam).
