PPP agreement signed for a multifunctional urban project at Kortrijk

Last Friday, together with intermunicipal association Leiedal, we concluded a public-private partnership (PPP) for the development of a new multifunctional, sustainable, and core-strengthening urban project in the heart of Kortrijk.

This agreement is the result of a public procedure/selection process that was launched in the spring of 2022. The project site, covering approximately 3,000 m², is located between Rijselsestraat and Graanmarkt, just a stone’s throw from the Grote Markt. It will be developed with a strong focus on strengthening the city center, integrating housing, entrepreneurship, and other urban functions in a smart way.

A green and (semi-)public outdoor space is a key feature of the project, with a focus on biodiversity and sustainable land use. The project emphasizes renewable energy, circular construction principles, and maximum preservation of existing green structures. Heritage values are also taken into account, and a possible hotel expansion is included within the project scope. An underground parking solution is also part of the plans.

No specific details about the program have been disclosed yet. In the coming months, Leiedal, Ciril, and the city of Kortrijk, together with architectural firm Bart Dehaene, Bovenbouw architectuur, and landscape architect Jan Minne Gardenist, will further refine the plans. During this process, consultations will also take place with neighboring property owners and other stakeholders.

Ciril has built extensive experience in Flanders and Brussels with similar PPP projects. With a strong commitment to quality, sustainability, and transparency, we are once again working on a forward-looking development that will strengthen the city in the long term. The intermunicipal development association Leiedal, which unites thirteen municipalities in the Kortrijk region, ensures a high-quality project that provides clear added value for both the city and the region.
