Hasselt’s Heros site expands with brand-new office building for Liantis and UNIZO Limburg.

The Heros project, which entails the redevelopment of the old Concentra site, is taking on a more defined shape. In the week of Monday, 29 March, construction work will start on a new building with an office space of over 5,200 square metres. HR services group Liantis and entrepreneurs’ organisation UNIZO Limburg then want to move into the building in the autumn of 2022.

Herkenrode Development, a cooperation between the developers Ciril and Futurn, received the green light for the construction of the new Liantis and UNIZO Limburg office building.

For Liantis, this investment – even in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic – is part of a strategic long-term plan. “We’re currently going through difficult times. Nevertheless, the current crisis shouldn’t keep us from making further long-term investments in strong support for entrepreneurship in this country. We firmly believe that we can help entrepreneurs stand shoulder to shoulder to help our economy get back on its feet,” says Philip Van Eeckhoute, Managing Director of Liantis. “Our customers can continue to count on us. With this new office in Hasselt, we’ll be able to welcome them even better and help them with their business.”

UNIZO Limburg also continues to invest in good, personal support for entrepreneurs. “Of course, we remain a staunch advocate, but we at UNIZO Limburg have been focusing very strongly on one-on-one coaching and personal contact with our entrepreneurs in recent years. This new building will allow us to welcome our entrepreneurs even better in a modern and dynamic working environment. Moreover, this new building fits in very well with the modernisation operation we started a few years ago. UNIZO Limburg is ready for the future,” says Bart Lodewyckx of UNIZO Limburg.

Sustainable project

The new office building on Herkenrodesingel – for which Liantis and UNIZO Limburg commissioned the architectural firm Mamu Architects – is a very sustainable project. For example, no fossil fuels are used, and an air/water heat pump system and climate ceilings have been chosen that allow different rooms, islands, and zones to be cooled and heated independently of each other.
In addition, rainwater from the roof is also drained into an underground rainwater tank of approximately 50,000 litres where it is filtered and ready for reuse. The office building is also easily accessible for entrepreneurs from the region. There is an underground car park with 60 bicycle stands and 145 parking spaces and room for 15 parking spaces and 9 bicycle stands for visitors aboveground.

Heros Business Park

The brand-new industrial building is a nice addition to the Heros Business Park, which is being phased in and currently still has SME units and a project plot along Herkenrodesingel on offer.
Besides players such as Carglass and Mediahuis, Liantis and UNIZO Limburg will also contribute to an attractive and impressive gateway to the rest of the park.
