What we learned from 2020

2020 wasn’t what we had expected. In the past year, we were not only introduced to Covid-19, but also to new concepts like quarantine, social distancing, super spreaders, lockdown parties and cough shame – and luckily also bubbles and cuddle contacts. It was a year of waves and peaks, curves and drops, and of finding value in the unexpected.

Health

We were all reminded of what and who is really important. Health was our biggest concern – not only our own, but also the well-being of our loved ones. Keeping our family, friends and colleagues safe and sound became the top priority we all share. With safety measures like hand hygiene, working from home, mouth masks and the reorganization of our construction sites we all worked towards the same goal as one united Democo Group. Not only physically, but also mentally: with lots of optimism, flexibility and resilience.

Own strength

2020 encouraged us to give the best of ourselves, every day. Our employees did the same: the smartest solutions to adapt and continue our work, came from within our teams. New day-to-day experiences gave our people ideas on ways to make our company healthier, more connected and corona proof. We brainstormed via a daily corona check-up: this gave us the opportunity to share good ideas with each other and implement them together.

Teamwork

We learned that we could stand stronger together, despite some extra distance. We are a company of people: at Democo Group, no one can do their job alone. Our teamwork at the office continued via digital tools, while our construction teams could keep working together at our sites thanks to smarter planning and more social distance. This way, we could keep building value together every day.

Despite the unruly sea, Democo Group maintains a steady course today. Thank you to everyone who held on to their enthusiasm, strengthened their team spirit and sharpened their skills in these turbulent times. 2021 is bound to be another challenging year, but we now have a better idea of what to expect. Thanks to the unwavering effort of our employees and partners, we are stronger and more prepared now than we’ve ever been.

We step into 2021 with healthy realism and a strong trust in good entrepreneurship and healthy teamwork, across all boundaries.
