Ciril’s living and shopping project Forté consists of 77 housing units and 3,550m² of retail premises, spread across three buildings in the heart of Pelt. Through Forté, Ciril in partnership with the municipality’s administration provides the residential centre with a boost.
The three buildings – Alto, Brio and Cello – together offer about 3,550m² of retail premises, 27 service flats, 27 apartments and 33 service apartments. All three buildings have been designed in such a way that there is a clear-cut distinction between their public and private areas. The ground floor level has been conceived of as a transparent pedestal, whereas the apartments and service flats on the higher levels are organised around green rooftop gardens, which together form a semi-public space. The buildings are oriented in a U-shape around the roof gardens, enabling them to offer additional shelter for the garden. Architecture is by Diliën Architects and has been kept sober and modest. The choice of materials has been limited to brick, architectural concrete and patinated zinc.
All living quarters are situated along a wide covered boulevard, an attractive meeting place for residents. The commercial spaces have boosted shopping allure, and the buildings’ layout ensures an improved connectivity between the various pedestrian paths that cross through the centre.
